Whether you choose to do your makeup yourself or hire a professional makeup artist, my number one tip is to practice the look ahead of time. I've seen plenty of people get their makeup done by a pro, and they have been miserable. Not because the person did a bad job, but because the bride didn't feel comfortable in her own skin. The secret to great photos is confidence. And while you should be happy on your wedding day no matter what, when you look and feel great, that confidence shines through.
Keep It Simple
My next tip is to make your wedding look hassle-free. Now maybe this is just my personal style, but I don't like makeup that I have to re-apply throughout the day. I am truly a set it and forget it girl when it comes to my makeup. You may be a person who loves touching up her makeup and that's great. But if you're someone who doesn't wear much makeup on a regular basis, then I would suggest focusing on a makeup look that you don't have to worry about. Because the last thing you want to worry about during your reception is needing to touch up your makeup.
Skip The Latest Trends
Another tip is to go with a look that you're going to enjoy for years to come. Yes, I know that you're only going to have the look for one day, but your pictures and memories will last forever. So don't go for the latest trend, or fad, unless it's something that you really like. Your wedding day is not the time to try out a new smokey eye, or something that is not your style. Save the experimenting for a fun night out and leave your wedding day look for something that you will treasure forever.
